Over a series of seminars and community visits across the region ADMAPE have been raising awareness of climate change and strategies to combat it. Members from twenty-two families from the Winy Jammy area north of Leqceiba attended a seminar where they agreed that they would form a pastoralists union. One of the main tasks of the union was to designate a 250 hectare area where the forest would be protected (with fencing and surveillance) and hence allowed to regenerate and within which 100 hectares of rain-fed crops would be grown.
Three further sites where Natural Tree Regeneration was already taking place due to systems of protection and surveillance have also been assisted, monitored and used as examples of a method of combatting climate change.
